Introduction
CJC-1295 is a synthetic modification of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) designed to extend its biological half-life. The modification involves adding a drug affinity complex (DAC) that binds to serum albumin, significantly increasing the peptide's duration of action compared to native GHRH.
Mechanism of Action
GHRH Receptor Agonism
CJC-1295 binds to and activates the GHRH receptor in the anterior pituitary, stimulating pulsatile growth hormone release.
Albumin Binding
The DAC modification allows CJC-1295 to bind to serum albumin, extending its half-life from minutes to approximately 8 days in animal models. This extended half-life allows for less frequent administration in research protocols.
IGF-1 Elevation
Through sustained GH release, CJC-1295 elevates IGF-1 levels, which mediates many of the anabolic and metabolic effects studied in research.
